What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a health care delivery model based on providing quality healthcare with unparalleled access for a flat, affordable monthly membership fee.

What are the cost savings of direct primary care?

Membership includes care of chronic medical conditions and treatment of acute problems. Simple office procedures (sutures, incision and drainage, and ear irrigations) are included. We offer at cost medications and lab tests. Here are some examples of our negotiated lab rates:

  • Complete blood count $3.50

  • Cholesterol panel $4.95

  • Renal panel $4.10

  • Hemoglobin A1c $4.21

  • PSA (prostate) $4.80

  • Thyroid panel $12.68

  • Urine culture $8.00

Can I continue to use my insurance for lab work, imaging, hospitalizations, etcetera?

Yes. We operate outside of insurance and will not submit bills to your health insurance company, but you can continue to use your insurance for your other health care needs. 

Can I see Dr. Slough without paying a monthly membership fee?

Yes. Dr. Slough does allow for visit for physicals and acute problems. Please see pricing page for more information.

Do you accept Medicare?

No. Dr. Slough is unable to accept Medicare patients in the practice.

Do you dispense medications?

Yes. We can offer samples and dispense medications. Often, you can leave your sick visit with medications provided at cost.

Is this a type of health insurance?

No. We encourage you to keep your traditional health insurance. We can provide most primary care and can be a valuable asset for high deductible plans.

Do you have services that assist small business owners?

Yes. For a flat monthly fee, you can provide unlimited primary care to employees. This is a good option for employers that do not provide health insurance or for those businesses that offer a high deductible plan. 

Is the doctor able to coordinate care with my other physicians?

Yes. Although we are not affiliated with one specific hospital system, we are able to coordinate care across specialties and recommend and refer to all specialists.

How do I cancel my membership?

You can cancel at any time. Just notify the office and no further monthly fees will be billed to you. You will continue to receive care through the end of the month.
